Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK") was presented Top Donor of the Year Award by the Community Chest of Hong Kong ("the Chest").
In 2009, BOCHK Charitable Foundation made a total donation of HKD 25.3 million to the Chest. Also, the Group encouraged staff participation in a diverse range of charitable activities held by the Chest. BOCHK's commitment to community affairs and CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) was highly praised by the Chest.
Meanwhile, BOCHK launched "Caring Hong Kong - A Heart Warming Campaign" ("the Campaign") to mitigate the impact of the economic turmoil on Hong Kong and those affected. BOCHK designated HKD 90 million of the net proceeds from sales of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Banknote to the Campaign. Over 300 member institutions of the Chest and Hong Kong Council of Social Service were eligible to apply for the fund. Up to now, HKD 27 million has been allocated to 25 projects.
BOCHK has long been ative in charitable activities in many fields, including culture, education, sports, environmental protection, social service, and poverty relief in China's mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau. This has led to a widely recognized reputation for BOCHK.
