On the morning of August 7, 2009,as the first National Fitness Day approaches, the opening ceremony of "2009 Nation Fitness Carnival" is held at the Beijing Olympic Sport Center. Bank of China is the only title sponsor. The ceremony is attended by Li Zaohang, Vice President of Bank of China, Feng Jianzhong, Vice Director of and other leaders.

At the ceremony, Vice President Li Zaohang, on behalf of Bank of China, donates RMB 5 million to promote the publicity of the National Fitness Campaign, and Feng Jiangzhong takes this check from Mr. Li's hands. During the 2009 Nation Fitness Carnival, Bank of China placed a donation box in the Olympic Sports Center to raise fund from the general public. The money raised was used to support the National Fitness Campaign.


2009 Nation Fitness Carnival, is a grand event held in Beijing on the National Fitness Day, aimed to encourage sports and physical exercise among the public and promote the National Fitness Program. This activity lasts three days, and has four theme sections: competition, exhibition and experience, scientific guidance, and interactive games. There are 32 activity items. During the Carnival, locals in Beijing can enjoy a wide range of exciting activities, including traditional sports, national fitness projects, physical quality monitoring service offered by China Institute of Sport Science, and radio direction finding and orienteering cross-country activities organized by the ATC Center. Health lectures by renowned experts are also available.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President of Bank of China, Li Zaohang said: "The launch of National Fitness Day is an important measure to improve the health of the nation on a people-oriented basis. It is also the result of the long-term exposure of Beijing Olympic Games to the public. National Fitness Campaign not only brings benefits to individuals and the whole nation, but also is essential to a harmonious society". Bank of China considers the campaign as a key step in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and building a harmonious society. The bank will redouble its efforts to facilitate the transition of China from a large sports nation to a powerful one, improving the health of the nation.
