On December 25, 2008, the "Summary Award Meeting on Fund Raising for Construction of Beijing Olympics Venues" was held in Beijing by the Beijing Committee of Joint Construction of Beijing Olympics Venues by Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Compatriots (the Committee). Bank of China and other 25 organizations won the "Excellent Organizer" award.

With the support of relevant authorities of the central government and the joint endeavors of the member organizations of the Committee, the task of fund raising and joint construction of Beijing Olympics venues by compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan has been fulfilled. The Committee has received donations of nearly RMB 940 million from over 350,000 individuals in 107 countries and regions as of now. The National Aquatics Center has become the single building in the world that involves the largest number of donating countries and regions, the biggest number of donators and the largest amount of donations. In addition to bequeathing everlasting landmark buildings in the Olympic history of China, the fund raising and joint construction campaign also demonstrates the cohesion, appeal and solidarity of Chinese people.
As the partner bank of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the strategic partner of the Committee, Bank of China gave full play to its advantages in overseas branch network to support the fund raising and joint construction work of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and overseas Chinese compatriots. With over 5,000 donation remittances handled and handling fees totaling hundreds of thousands of US dollars exempted, Bank of China provided substantial financial service to support the joint construction with overseas donations in the past seven years.
