10,000 Entries Received in Olympic Comic and Animation Competition

Jointly organized by Bank of China and Hong Kong-based Wen Wei Po, the three-month "2008 Olympic Comic and Animation Competition(OCAC)", which is held in three places to illustrate Bank of China's passion for 2008 Olympic Games, will come to an end on May 31 before the arrival of International Children's Day. The top 100 works will be selected from nearly 10,000 entries.

The competition is the first Olympic-themed comic and animation competition simultaneously held in the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. With the theme of "My Olympics", the competition solicits works from the youngsters in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. Since it was launched on February 27, 2008, the competition has received strong response from the society and youngsters in the three places. The official website of the competition has received more than 50,000 visits; and the event has been covered by many media organizations from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, including the Hong Kong-based Wen Wei Po and CCTV. During the three-month solicitation period, the organizing committee has received nearly 10,000 entries. The youngest participant is only 4 years old. Comic and animation masters from Hong Kong and Taiwan such as Jimmy and Huang Yulang have readily accepted the invitation to serve as judges.

Excellent works will be exhibited in Bank of China Towers in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau, and will have the chance to appear in the exhibition area of Bank of China in the Beijing Olympic Park to meet visitors across the world during the Olympic Games. The award-winning work will have the opportunity to be shown on the face of bankcard or the back of the passbook of Bank of China.

As the only bank partner of Beijing 2008 Olympics and Paralympics, Bank of China always cares about children and youngsters and proactively fulfills its corporate social responsibility. Bank of China is committed to let youngsters share the Olympic Games by practicing the concept of "Humanistic Olympics". Besides this competition, Bank of China has also sponsored the public welfare activity "Cheering for Beijing Olympic Games and Winning with Bank of China- Beijing Olympic Journey of Children from 56 Ethnic Groups". Meanwhile, Bank of China has mobilized its staff and the public to seek families who extend loving care and support to people in need. During the International Children's Day, these young representatives will come to Beijing to participate in activities themed as "Friendship, Convergence and Happiness" and experience the warmth of the harmonious society and the spirit of the Olympics.
