Visit of Mr. Heinz Fischer, Federal President of Austria at Bank of China

On March 27, 2015 during his stay in China, Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer, paid a special visit to Bank of China and talked with Chairman Tian Guoli, to discuss several topics such as the development of Chinese banks in the Austrian economy, the internationalization of the Renminbi and the cooperation between SMEs.
Chairman Tian Guoli expressed that Austria is located in the center of Europe and is in an important economic and financial position. Bank of China has plans to set up a branch in Austria as a center for business development in Central and Eastern Europe. The Austrian branch would focus on providing financial services to Austrian enterprises and Chinese "Out-Going " companies. Chairman Tian Guoli also proposed that in the future, Bank of China will continue to strengthen the cooperation between SMEs in China and in Austria and expressed the desire to develop RMB business in the Austrian market.
President Fischer stated that in recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between Austria and China has enjoyed rapid growth and there is great potential for cooperation in the financial field. Austria is an important financial center in Central and Eastern Europe. The Austrian government welcomes Chinese banks to invest in the Austrian economy. The significance of the cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises of the two countries is strongly based on taking over social responsibility to promote economic development. The Austrian government very much welcomes and supports such initiatives. In the future, Austria would be pleased to promote and enhance further exchange and cooperation between the two economies. Finally, Federal President Mr. Heinz Fischer warmly invited Chairman Tian Guoli to visit Austria as soon as possible. The President of the Austrian Central Bank was also pleased with the proposals from Bank of China.
From Austrian side the Austrian Minister of Commerce, the President of the Austrian Central Bank, the State Secretary and the Austrian Ambassador to China were attended also the meeting.
